ABOUT THE BAND

The band is based in Sandal, where it was formed back in 1977. Every Monday and Thrusday, the Band meet for rehearsals between 7:30 - 9:30. The Band has had many proud and enjoyable moments in its four decade history, and these continue to come. Since its formation in 1977 the band has performed many concerts each year including the Bands in the Parks series throughout Yorkshire, at agricultural shows, charity fund-raising events and the very popular Christmas Brass concert. The band regularly takes part in joint concerts with local choirs and also has a popular 10 piece group which is available on request. The Band’s repertoire is wide ranging from swing, rock and ‘modern pop’ to extracts from the Musicals, Operas and Classical including items composed or arranged by members of the Band in addition to the more traditional brass band repertoire. First Section Youngest Player!

At the 2015 Brass Band Regional Championships, Mikey Foley-Hall won the youngest player award for the 1st section. It follows after last year, Mikey was the youngest player but didn't receive the award as we were disqualified. However, the reason for disqualification was that some of our players were on the old system, not new. Was there really any need to change the system?
